The 2014 Golf Bearcats made it to the 3A State Tournaments!

Our girls and boys golf teams finished the season as District Runner-up and qualified for state!  The boys were played Charleston close, only six strokes behind.  While the girls were just two strokes off the lead for the team title.  What an amazing turnaround our golf teams have made since last season, when Darby Beason was our only representative in the state meet.

It has been a long time since either Bearcat Golf team made it to State.  So, we are very proud that both teams represented Booneville at the State Meets.

The girls will competed for the state title in El Dorado on Tuesday, September 30th.  We came in at 4th place with a team score of 324.  The three teams that finished ahead of us were all loaded with seniors:  Camden Harmony Grove 1st, Charleston 2nd, Jessieville 3rd.

Our LadyCat golfers were represented by Darby Beason in the Overall girls match on October 16.  She competed with the top three golfers from each classification at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock.  What a great accomplishment for Miss Beason!

The boys competed for the state title at DeGray state park on Tuesday, October 7th.  We came in with an 11th place team finish.

Go Bearcats!

Tuesday, September 23, we will be hosting the 3A-1 District Tournament at Cherokee Creek.  The match will begin at 8:30am and we would like to encourage any Bearcat supporters to come watch our high school golfers at their finest.  Our kids have worked hard this past year on the golf teams.  Come watch them, there is no entry fee for fans to watch!

We expect great things from our Bearcat golfers this year!  We have 6 boys and 6 girls on the golf teams.  Our boys have 2 seniors, while the girls team has all underclassmen.  On September 23rd, we will host the 3A-1 District Championships at Cherokee Creek Golf Course.

Match Recaps...

August 4:  We hosted Charleston, Lamar, Magazine, and Union Christian Academy.  The boys came in 2nd to Charleston (Tate Bell shot a 46), while the girls also came in 2nd to Charleston in a close match.

August 11:  We hosted Charleston, Lamar, Magazine, Mansfield, and Paris.  The boys came in 2nd to Paris and Charleston; Tate Bell lead the way with a 47.  The girls edged Charleston in another close match.  Most of our golfers improved from their first match scores!

August 21 @ Dardanelle:  In the boys match, we did well enough to come in 2nd. Two sophomores leading the way with Brady Brasher at 46 and Caden Yarborough at 47.  In the girls match, team leader Darby Beason suffered an injury, forcing her to drop out after four holes.  Despite missing Darby and tough competition from two former 4A-4 foes Dardanelle and Mena, 5A Clarksville and 3A Atkins, the girls were able to win their 2nd match in a row!  Junior Paige Joyce lead the way with a season low 47, Sophomore Sabreena Alfaro shot a season low 51, and Freshman Faith Preston shot a season low 54.

August 26 @ Hardscrabble:  The boys came in 2nd to Alma; Tate Bell shot a team low 48.  The girls were led by Paige Joyce with a 53, and the girls won over Alma and UCA.

August 28 @ Waldron:  The boys came in 2nd with Chandler Fritsche shooting a 46.  The girls also came in 2nd with Paige Joyce shooting a 50.

Monday, September 2, our home match was rained out!

Monday, September 8, we hosted numerous teams at Cherokee Creek.  Both boys and girls teams came in 2nd to Charleston.  Brady Brasher and Chandler Fritsche led the boys with a season low 45 each.  For the girls, Paige Joyce tied her season low with a 47, Faith Preston shot a season low 52, and Shelbie Duke shot a season low 60.

Tuesday, September 9, we played numerous schools at Danville.  The boys team came in 2nd to Charleston, with Trevor Jones shooting a season low 46 and Fritsche shooting a 49.  The girls won the match with Paige Joyce shooting a 53 and Shelbie Duke shooting a season low 56.

Tuesday, September 16, was our last regular season match.  We will played at Clarksville with Lamar and West Fork.  Our boys had a struggle of a match.  However, the girls beat all teams involved, including the boys teams.  Darby Beason made her return in dazzling fashion, shooting a season low 38 to best all participants.  Faith Preston also had her best round of the year with a 49.
